Problems with multiple users

Reported by Axel | March 12th, 2014 @ 02:07 PM

Hi there,

although I'm fascinated about piggydb, I unfortunately ecountered problems using the database together with my colleague.

We just installed the piggydb-standalone-6.17 on our server and set the piggydb.database.prefix to the right path.

So far so good - me (owner) and my colleague (#user) are able to create new fragments etc., but if we're working in the database at the same time it happens that piggydb is losing just created tags or fragments.
The logfile says: "ERROR 2014/03/11 11:26:25 unavailable
org.springframework.jdbc.CannotGetJdbcConnectionException: Could not get JDBC Connection; nested exception is org.h2.jdbc.JdbcSQLException: Datenbank wird wahrscheinlich bereits benutzt: "Locked by another process". Mögliche Lösungen: alle Verbindungen schliessen; Server Modus verwenden
Database may be already in use: "Locked by another process". Possible solutions: close all other connection(s); ..."

How can I Switch to Server Mode? Will this solve the problem or do we have to install another piggydb-package?

Thank you very much!

    Hi Axel,

From the error message, it seems that you launched multiple piggydb servers which access the same database. Is that right?

    Hi marubinotto,

I think that's right - we unpacked the piggydb-standalone-6.17 to a (server) device we both have access. Each of us started the same piggydb.exe out of these folder. Furthermore the database is also located at this drive.

Since Piggydb is a web server, you need to launch just one server and multiple users can share it. Execute piggydb.exe only once, and to access the server from another machine, enter the URL like below into the browser's address bar:

    Hi marubinotto,

great - it seems to work!
(But I always have to refresh the browser after creating a new Fragment and pressing register - the "Create a new Fragment" window isn't closing automatically... )

    Thanks a lot!

the "Create a new Fragment" window isn't closing automatically...

What browser do you use and does the same problem happen if you use the piggydb sandbox?

I'm using internet explorer 10, but after a reboot, surprisingly today the window is closing...
    Also with piggydb sandbox.
