managing multiple databases

Reported by Steve | March 8th, 2014 @ 06:04 AM

Firstly - thanks for Piggydb!

I really need to have multiple piggy databases and the Tomcat route seems too complicated for my needs. So I have written a simple Windows "shell script" which allows me to easily manage multiple piggy databases.

I have set up a folder which contains a number of piggydb database folders
The folders are named piggydb-prefix1, piggydb-prefix2, etc with one (the current one) being named just piggydb.

The script which mirrors my programming skills is very basic and inelegant, but it works at least. The steps are briefly:

  • stop piggydb server if it is running
  • user enters the prefix of the desired database folder
  • rename database folders appropriately
  • restart piggydb server

I know somebody could write a far more elegant script maybe in Java, which would do the same thing.

A text version of the bat file is attached. Maybe this will be helpful to someone :)
